The BfArM
(The German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices) has
informed of a corrective measure being undertaken by the company Ondal
Industrietechnik GmbH, concerning the Acrobat 2000 Series Suspension
Arm. It pertains to a safety issue with the Acrobat 2000
Suspension Arm and a welding seam on the outside arm section, which may
fail, causing mounted medical devices, such as lamps, to break off and
fall. Users of the Acrobat 2000 Suspension Arms are requested to
inspect arms manufactured from 2000 to 2006 for safety.Clients who
had fitted their installations with the exclusive MAVIG Protegra2
product do not have to worry about this safety notice. The MAVIG
Protegra2 Series Suspension Arm does not have the same production
specifications as the Acrobat2000 Series, and is therefore not affected
by the mentioned safety riskSince 2001, MAVIG has not used the
Acrobat 2000 Suspension Arm for the mounting of lamps, radiation
protective shields, and other medical devices. Acrobat 2000
Suspension Arms previously delivered before this date, have already been
exchanged by MAVIG in a global recall. The current safety notice
from the BfArM
pertains only to Acrobat 2000 Suspension Arms from other suppliers,
which are still in use.
